Absolutely! I think people who say that the books create a negative influence on children because of their references to sorcery are missing the more important aspects of the novels. The witchcraft theme is only a backdraft for Harry's story. There are real life lessons that can be learned in Harry Potter such as the value of friendship, love, kindness, and loyalty. Children would certainly benefit from learning about these things. I think most children who are mature enough to read and comprehend the contents of the books are equally likey to posess the mental capacity to distinguish the difference between fact and fiction.
